Trudy Menzel

Trudy was born, raised and educated in Switzerland.

In 1989, with her husband Rolf, she decided to take a really big step and immigrate to Canada.  The desire to explore some creative venues lead her to attend a number of pottery classes taught by Algis Bubnys and Linda Reid –

and from there on she was hooked…

In 1995 she joined the Arrowsmith Potter’s Guild,

a great set-up for further learning and exploring the craft.

In the following years she attended workshops with Eve Carey, Randy Brodenax, Gordon Hutchens, Cathie Jefferson, jjust to name a few.

In 2003  she  joined  Pyromania Pottery in Coombs,

where her work is displayed.

"Working with clay always provides me with great pleasure, while I am drawing my inspirations from all the beauty around us and travels further afield."

Trudy's work is primarily Raku fired, a technique which has its roots in Japan back in the late 16th Century. None two pieces will ever be alike and each and every one represents a moment in time, captured by flame.
